Bass Gold project committee members have successfully completed the corporate training programme "Project Management in the Mining Industry," organised by the EY Business Academy. The intensive two-day programme was held at the company's office and covered the full lifecycle of capital-intensive investment projects in the mining and metallurgical sector.
About the Programme
The 16-academic-hour training was developed specifically for the mining and metallurgical industry. The programme is structured around three interconnected modules and is built on the principle of business simulation: participants not only studied theoretical foundations but applied them directly through practical assignments, role-playing exercises, and real-world industry case studies.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completing the training, Bass Gold project committee members acquired systematic knowledge and practical skills in mining project management, mastered tools for planning and optimising project portfolios by timeline, cost and resources, explored best practices in establishing project management offices at leading global mining and metallurgical companies, and gained insight into common pitfalls in the execution of capital-intensive projects and how to avoid them. Each participant received an EY Business Academy certificate and 16 PDU credits toward the maintenance of professional certifications.
Programme Trainer
The training was delivered by Saken Sadvakassov — a certified IPMA® Level C specialist and instructor-consultant at the EY Business Academy CCA since 2019. Saken brings extensive hands-on experience in real-sector project management: he led the corporate project management office of Eurasian Group (ERG/ENRC), managed global and local projects at GE International, and served as Programme Manager at ArcelorMittal and Kazakhmys Projects BV. His expertise spans CAPEX, OPEX, IT and transformation projects across Kazakhstan and internationally.
Our Approach to Team Development

The competence of our project committee has a direct impact on the effective delivery of our capital-intensive projects, adherence to timelines and budgets, and the mitigation of operational and investment risks. The EY Business Academy programme was selected for its deep industry specialisation, practical format and recognised expertise in the mining and metallurgical sector. Participants are already applying the knowledge and tools gained to current projects across the company.
